*our knowledge about space*(pt-1)

From the ancient times, humanity always thrived for the understanding of space and its origins. The first fundamental theory was proposed by Aristotle.

His theory significantly approves that the earth was spherical in shape as for two reasons. One is the shadow of the earth on the moon during the eclipse was spherical (i.e, the moment when the earth is between the sun and the moon).Another one is that the north star would appear farther from the earth as that observed from the equator(this happens because If we observe the north star from the equator it would appear just above the horizon, so it appears closer) this phenomena only happens when the earth is in spherical in shape. The Greeks approved his hypothetical theory based on the visual observances and concluded that the earth was spherical. Aristotle also believed that the earth was situated at the centre of the galaxy and all the other planets and natural satellites revolved around the earth. He believed that the earth was the centre of the galaxy for some mythical reasons. This idea was later visually represented by Ptolemy.

Copernicus was the first person to introduce the heliocentric theory which opposed the justifications of all the planetary bodies revolving around the earth. Heavenly bodies revolve around the sun except stars that were fixed in their axis far far away just like our sun. He circulated his theory anonymously, because he would be punished, as the church adopted the theory of Aristotle because it resembles the religious writings and they also believed there was enough space for Hell and heaven.

"Religion and their understanding of god is creator of all somewhat slowed down the thrive of curiosity and understanding, hasn’t it"?

Almost a century later, Johannes kepler and Galileo galilei  approved the Copernican theory and  started to support it. They justified the theory by visual understanding of the theory since telescope was just invented at that time!. Kepler modified the theory by telling that the planets revolved around the sun in elliptical orbits rather than circular. He worked out the math and gave a fundamental knowledge on the motion of the planets.

Later in the time of sir Isaac newton, published a book called “philosophiae  naturalis  principia  mathematica” one of the most extraordinary  works in physical sciences. He created the necessary math to calculate orbits and introduced the concept of gravity and the universal law of gravitation was thus born. His law states that force is directly proportional to the mass of the body and in the case of two masses the force is inversely proportional to the square of the distances between them.
